Among the star plants of Alpine cosmetics, the ‘Alpine Rose’ is in fact a variety of rhododendron, the rusty-leaved rhododendron (Rhododendron ferrugineum), an evergreen shrub with remarkable properties.
It is found at altitudes of between 1,500 and 2,600 metres. It can live for up to 100 years, whilst being perfectly resistant to high-altitude UV rays and the cold. In cosmetics, extracts from the leaves are used to protect the skin against oxidative stress and increase its elasticity.
Our cream based on Rhododendron ferrugineum will be launched at the end of the year.

This plant is completely different from the Alpine rose (Rosa pendulina), the wild rose that grows at the highest altitudes, and whose roses are not used in cosmetics.
