Which face cream is right for me? The guide
Normal, dry, oily, combination skin? What is my skin type? Dehydrated, sensitive, acne-prone, mature skin? What is the condition of my skin?
Skin type is genetically determined and does not change. It depends on the activity of the sebaceous glands.
- Normal skin is perfectly balanced: neither too oily nor too dry. To maintain this balance in the long term, a face cream containing antioxidant ingredients is recommended, as these protect the skin from external environmental factors.
Oily skin is characterised by excessive sebum production, enlarged pores and shiny patches (often on the forehead, nose and chin). You can help regulate it from within by eating fewer foods with a high glycaemic index, such as products made from white flour, sugar and dairy products. A skincare routine using specialised, non-comedogenic and oil-free products helps the skin to regulate itself.
Combined skin is oily in the T-zone (forehead, nose and chin) and normal or even dry on the rest of the face. The ideal routine combines specialised skincare products for each area.
Dry skin, on the other hand, suffers from a lack of sebum: it constantly feels tight or tingly, is rough and never shines. - Dry skin can be regulated from within by increasing your intake of oily fish, vegetable oils, nuts and colourful fruit and vegetables. A specialised skincare routine using a moisturising cream is essential.
Skin condition refers to temporary and/or progressive imbalances, such as dehydration, acne, excessive sensitivity, a dull complexion or signs of ageing. It is primarily with skin condition in mind that we have developed our skincare range.
- Dehydration: the skin lacks water; fine lines appear on the cheeks or at the corners of the eyes; the skin feels temporarily tight; it looks dull; and flaky patches may appear in winter. Our creams, containing grape extract and Alpine plants, have been formulated to rehydrate the skin over the long term. Important to note: oily skin can also be dehydrated, due to environmental factors (heating or air conditioning) or skincare products that are too astringent.
Acne: skin blemishes and inflammation requiring appropriate topical treatments and dietary adjustments. At Rosa Alpina, we do not currently offer treatments for acne. However, for those with moderate acne, particularly concentrated on the chin, our cream for sensitive skin provides the rest of the face with the hydration and anti-inflammatory active ingredients it needs.
Sensitive skin: it reddens easily, feels tight and stings after washing. Our cream for sensitive skin provides the dermis and epidermis with the anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and moisturising active ingredients needed to support the dermis and maintain its balance. - Mature skin: as we age, collagen and elastin production decreases and the skin gradually loses its volume, firmness and radiance. Our anti-ageing night cream with edelweiss is specifically formulated to help the skin maintain elastin and collagen production and visibly reduce wrinkles.
